Atoms are particles of matter that describe different elements. Atoms consist of a nucleus that is surrounded by one or more electrons. Electrons are negatively charged while protons have a positive charge. They are made up of 3 smaller particles which are neutrons, which have no charge, electrons, and protons. Protons and neutrons stay in the middle of the atom while electrons surround it. The number of protons and electrons are always the same, but neutrons don’t always have the same amount as the protons.
Everything is made up of matter, so everything is made up of atoms. Atoms make up everything. Anything that takes up space or has mass is made out of matter. Atoms are the smallest building blocks of chemistry and cannot be created nor destroyed. The fact that they cannot be created or destroyed creates predictions of where they come from.
