Author: Evee SnellDo you hear that buzzing sound in your ear? Well, that my friend is a bee. The vibration of the bee’s four wings hitting together creates a buzzing sound in your ear. The bigger the bee the louder the buzzing sound. Bees have four wings, it may only look like two, but there are four. The front and the rear wings hook together to form one big pair of wings, and yes they can unhook these wings when they’re not flying.
Many people are very scared of bees, and may even have a phobia. Having a phobia of bees is one of the most common phobias. The main reason why people are afraid of bees is because of their stinger. You probably didn’t know this but some bees will not always die from stinging something. When a bee stings something with thick skin such as humans; the stinger remains in your skin till it’s treated. When having the stinger get caught in your skin, the stinger has been removed from the bee and the bee will die. When a bee stinger gets stuck in your skin it is releasing venom into your body. If you remove the stinger it will release more venom in you. Many people are allergic to bees which can cause swelling and may cause death. There are plenty of different types of bees. For an example the Honey Bee colony. This colony consists of three workers. The worker, drones, and the queen. The worker bees are only females and can’t reproduce. They do all of the work and control what goes on in the hive. The workers make wax, collect honey, take care of larvae [baby bees], and feed the queen. The drones on the other hand are the opposite of workers. They are all male. The drones have one job and that is to mate with the queen to help her reproduce. And finally the queen has her lifetime job which is to reproduce offspring [make more babies]. The queen has a very long torso, the drone has a fat torso and then the worker has a ‘’normal’’ torso. When you’re outside playing and you see a bee, that bee is a worker bee. The drone and the queen never leave the hive unless needed. How do bees make honey anyways? The worker bees fly around finding nectar [a sugary substance]. Then once they find a flower they suck out the nectar with their tongue. Then they store it in there Honey Stomach which is completely different from their Food Stomach. Once their Honey Stomach is full they take it back to the hive. Once they are at the hive the bees will pass [throw up] it to other bees until all the water is out of it and that makes honey. Each bee will visit 50-200 flowers in one visit! As you can see bees are very fascinating creatures. Bee Facts:
