The word “dinosaur’’ comes from the Greek language and means “terrible lizard’’. Some people didn’t know that dinosaurs ruled the world for over 160 years. Sadly, dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago. Lots of scientists believe that there could have been a massive asteroid that hit the dinosaurs, or huge volcanic activities, but still nobody knows. Did you know that the dinosaur to be named was called a Megalosaurus back in 1824? Plus, a person who studies about dinosaurs is called a Paleontologist. Fun fact: did you know that the largest dinosaurs in the world were actually herbivores (Brachiosaurus and the Apatosaurus)? Just so you know, Pterodactyls are not dinosaurs. They are actually reptiles that can fly and are the same age of dinosaurs. Believe it or not, scientists say that birds are dinosaurs (also known as Theropods). It’s kind of like humans are animals but birds are dinosaurs. Plus, dinosaurs are cold blooded. Another fun fact: dinosaur’s teeth are so sharp they can use them to stab their prey. And last but not least, you can find fossils mostly in North America, China, and Argentina.
